Our garden is growing strong!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

• We will be knitting ON TUESDAY in art class. BYOK! (Bring Your Own Knitting) (any yarn you might have at home and needles, size 3 or 4). Yarn/knitting needles donations accepted! 
• SNOW ANGELS: WHEN IT SNOWS OVERNIGHT, PLEASE:
  Send your child to school equipped with a snow shovel,which (s)he will be bringing home at the end of the day.

• T-Shirt orders: Please use this form, orders due Jan. 20th.

LEARNINGS:

• German: Verb tenses, pronouns. Strategies for guided reading: Inference.
• E.L.A: Daily 5 CAFE: Strategy: Inference, based on different novels. Common theme: The Hero's Journey.
• Science 5: Experiments with Electricity. Science 6: Sky Science: Moon phases.
• Social 5: Regions of Canada, creating a website about my assigned region. Social 6: Municipal Government, creating a website about how government works.
• Math: Problem solving activities integrating fractions, decimals and percentages.
• P.E.: Skating, Yoga, Floor Hockey
• Art: Color study, mixed media
• Leadership: Reading buddies
• Health: Growth vs. Fixed Mindset, Taking care of my body (nutrition, personal hygiene)

HOMEWORK:

Get your nightly reading signed (monthly goal: 1000 minutes)

TESTS:

Science test on FRIDAY, JANUARY 15th: Electricity (review booklet) Moon Phases (review notes in Science binder).

January 22nd: Grade 5 Electricity Hands-On field trip 9:45-11:45 am  Volunteers: Christina, Danielle / Grade 6 to City Hall, 9:00 to 11:45 am 

February 1st: NO SCHOOL, Professional Development Day.
